The coronavirus pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to the world, including loss of life, illness and economic hardship. So, is now really the best time to start planning your next holiday? Well according to plenty of experts, the answer is yes and with vaccines on the horizon and confidence in travel being restored being able to think about a brighter future helps us to cope with the reality of the situation now.
The Green List
They say that green is the colour of envy, and at the moment Spain is pretty envious of other countries that made it onto the Green List for travellers from the UK, announced on 24th June. The current status is Amber, meaning travellers to Spain will still need to self-isolate for 10 days on their arrival back in the UK, as well as take a PCR test. Although with the Balearic and Canary Islands on the Green list and the current vaccination program in Spain it is looking very promising for Spain to be also added to the Green list in the next review.
While we wait for good news from the UK government about the travel traffic light system, Spain continues to hold the door open for UK visitors this summer as visitors will not be subject to coronavirus restrictions when travelling to Spain, including the requirement to present a negative PCR test on arrival, as well as the wearing of masks outdoors is no longer mandatory.
Thinking about future holidays and planning is a fantastic time to focus our minds on something positive and it gives us a sense of control over our lives. Another practical benefit of planning a future trip is that you can spend quality time researching together with family and friends whether it's online or not and it's a way of keeping us connected to the world.
Even planning for a post-pandemic trip will drum up excitement and can be therapeutic, because it gives our brains something concrete to focus on and helps break up the monotony of everyday life.
